How To Give

Helping the Young People – A Positive Youth Development Program
Since it’s inception in 1997, The First Tee has introduced over 7.6 million young people to the game of golf and its inherent values through their Life Skills Experience.  Through programs taught at golf courses, elementary schools and military installations, the young people are developing character by focusing on Nine Core Values: Honesty, Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Confidence, Courtesy, Sportsmanship, Responsibility and Judgment.

Additionally, The First Tee is addressing the health and wellness of our young people.  Through a collaboration among The First Tee, ANNIKA Foundation and Florida Hospital for Children, The First Tee’s Nine Healthy Habits were created.  These healthy habits are a list of nine health and wellness topics presented as a part of The First Tee, formatted for easy understanding and learning by elementary-age students and chapter participants.

Life Skills Experience in Omaha
Since joining forces in 2002, Hogan’s Junior Golf Heroes and The First Tee of Omaha have been providing The First Tee’s Life Skills Experience to the young people of Omaha.  Each year passionate coaches and volunteers use the game of golf to provide young people with the tools to be successful on the golf course and in life.  Our programs serve youth ages five through 17 at the Steve Hogan Golf Course, numerous Omaha Public Schools and Offutt Air Force Base.  In 2012, 216 young people participated in our positive youth development program.

Support is Needed
Each year it costs over $350 to provide year-round programming and character developing opportunities for each young person.  All families pay a subsidized fee of only $95 per participant and 59% of our young people served are on full scholarships.  In 2012, 60% of our participants came from families whose household family income falls below $20,000.  NO CHILD is ever turned away from our program because of their inability to pay.  The money raised through sponsorships, individual giving and special events will enable us to continue to serve every interested young person.  The dollars raised will provide additional scholarship, help us recruit/train/certify local coaches, provide additional golf course access for all participants and free equipment to participants who do not have their own.
